Growing up, my mom tried to instill a love of gardening in me. Try as she might, I just wasn’t interested…until I was. It took having my own little piece of dirt to really understand how powerful the lure of flowers could be.
In the winter of 2018, I found myself at a women’s conference where we were challenged to find our own unique gifts and talents that could help other people. I didn’t understand how my joy of growing flowers from seeds could be useful, but that small challenge shifted something in me. What if, somehow, my garden could make a difference? What if these simple flowers could impact women and children in my hometown?
It seemed like a big dream, but maybe big dreams are worth the effort. My husband fully backed this call on my heart and got busy with the garden infrastructure. He cleared the yard, measured pathways and built raised beds. I ordered seeds and anxiously watched them grow. Together, we opened the garden in 2019 not really knowing anything, but knew we wanted to bring people together to help the community. Every year we learn a little more and become more excited to see how this garden will grow.
Hi, I’m Trish, and Kitsap County has been my lifelong home. It’s here where I met my husband, Mark, when we were just babies (17 &20) and here where we decided to raise our three kids. Some other activities I’ve been known to pursue throughout the years: knitting and selling baby items in my Etsy store, refinishing furniture and being foster mom to underage kittens with Kitsap Humane Society.
Even though I’m more on the introverted side, I love sharing the garden with others. If you want to talk plants or cats, I’m your gal! I find it very rewarding being able to create a space where others can take a little time to breathe in the garden and refresh. My hope is that this little moment amongst flowers can be an avenue for family memories and reconnecting friends as well as an opportunity to give back to our own community.
The u-cut garden was built out of the idea that flowers can make a difference in our local area. Not only do they bring color and joy to yourself or a loved one, each arrangement is an opportunity to give back. The goal has always been to create a beautiful world through flowers; not just at kitchen tables or for special occasions, but to tangibly impact the lives of women and children in Kitsap County.
Over the years, with the help of individual “bouquet builders”, we have been able to support Georgia’s House and Scarlet Road, both Bremerton-based non-profits who are dedicated to uplifting those in need. Thank you for supporting our flower farm and your local community!
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
